President & CEO, South Carolina Public Railways
Jeff McWhorter was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of South Carolina Public Railways in September 2007 after having served 5 years as the Vice President of Operations & Maintenance.
He began his employment with South Carolina Public Railways in August 1984 as a switchman on the extra board. Jeff also served as a conductor and locomotive engineer before entering management where he served as Supervisor of Operations, Manager of Operations, and later as Vice President. Jeff’s other career while working on the railroad extra board was law enforcement, having served 17 years with the Charleston County and City of Charleston police departments, and as Public Safety Director with Berkeley County Schools. He has also served as a consultant for law enforcement and security issues in the U.S. and Canada.
Jeff is a graduate of the University of South Carolina’s College of Criminal Justice and Southern Wesleyan University where he earned a Master of Science degree in Management.
Additionally, Jeff is a member of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association where he served on the Police Committee, the American Association of Railroad Superintendents, The Propeller Club of the United States – Port of Charleston, the Charleston Air Force Base Honorary Commander Advisory Council, and he is a U.S. Air Force National Security Forum Alumni.
Vice President & COO
Jeff Davis was appointed Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for South Carolina Public Railways in September of 2007. Prior to being appointed to Vice President, Jeff served as the Supervisor of Mechanical Operations before being promoted to Manager of Operations & Regulatory Affairs. Jeff also brings experience from his career at CSX where he served as Manager of Labor Relations and a Trainmaster. Apart from the railroad industry, Jeff was a consultant for the Performance Assurance Division at Ontario Power Generation – Nuclear located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and he has served in several different capacities in the field of public safety.
Jeff is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Management.
Jeff is a member of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, the Charleston Chamber of Commerce, The American Railway and Maintenance-of-Way Association, the Propeller Club of the United States-Port of Charleston, and he serves as an Honorary Commander with the United States Air Force 437th Airlift Wing.
